Why "I Spoke Up"?
Today I decided to stop talking about things I wanted to do and actually do them. I decided to start living into the greatness bestowed upon me by He who decided my life was worth His own. I decided to speak up, and I named my blog that after Steffany Gretzinger's song "I Spoke Up," creative, huh? If you're curious, here is the song & lyrics:
Everyone knows that I was the good girl
I did my best to make everyone happy with me
But then I found out that
It was impossible to please the whole crowd
So I spoke up, I spoke out
I learned that love don’t hold its tongue
And passion doesn’t bow to what they think
It’s you and me
Sometimes it’s painful to be brave
To look fear in the face
And know your name
To find your strength
So here I am, not holding my tongue and not bowing to what they think. I've decided to live into the promise that "perfect love casts out all fear" (1 John 4:18) and if God gave me a gift, for the love of God I'm going to share it! Aside from that, I feel called to live authentically and be fearlessly vulnerable about my life and my struggles so that if anyone at all can relate they can know that (1) they are not alone and (2) if I can do it they can too! I'm not here pretending I know everything, I'm just here being obedient to a word I received: write. So I'm here for it, to write, to love, to listen, and to share my story, and trust me when I tell you there are some unexpected plot twists in my life that brought me to this point (more on that later). For now, I've uploaded a few previously published stories in hopes to give you a preview of what my writing is like. Stick around for the journey, or come by every once in a while, I'll just leave this here to anyone who may need it. Let's be brave together :)
Im game if you’re game! I love you so excited for this!
